Preparing your Quilt Top
- Do Not Baste
- Trim Threads
- Press your Quilt Top
- Keep stitch 1/8” to 1/4” from edge if your borders or edge blocks are pieced.
This will ensure that the pieced seams do not pull apart during the quilting process.
- Check to make sure your borders lie flat. Take Measurements on the edges and
through the middle of your quilt. If the edge measurements are significantly greater
than the middle measurement then you may want to redo your borders.
Preparing your Batting
- If you supply the batting, ensure that it is at least 6" wider and 6" longer than the quilt top.
- Do NOT supply Mountain Mist battings as they pull apart too easily,
not suitable for machine quilting.
Preparing your Backing
- If you are providing the backing fabric it should be at least 6" wider and 6" longer
than the quilt top...
- Backings that are pieced must not have selvage edges in the seams.
(The selvage edges pull and create puckers in the back of the quilt.)
- Seams should be pressed open
- All backings should be squared
